How to Find the Biggest Discounts on Amazon
The short answer
Start with the product or category you need, then compare the actual price you would pay with a relevant current alternative. For used Amazon offers, ThriftyRoo can sort savings against the current new price by percentage or dollars. Neither the biggest percentage nor a clearance label automatically identifies the best purchase.

Percentage savings and dollar savings answer different questions
Dollar savings = new price − used price. Percentage savings = (new price − used price) ÷ new price × 100. These calculations only make sense when the prices refer to the same model, capacity, and package.
In an illustrative comparison, $50 used versus $100 new saves 50%, or $50. Another item at $600 used versus $800 new saves 25%, or $200. The first has the bigger percentage; the second saves more dollars. Neither is a deal if it is the wrong product.
Find discounted used offers with a focused search
ThriftyRoo's used mode compares used and new offers, not historical price drops. Its percentage and dollar sorts help you explore those differences without treating a manufacturer's suggested list price as the baseline.
- Search for a useful category or specific model in Used Deals mode.
- Choose percentage savings or dollar savings, depending on what you want to compare.
- Use a tighter query or Strict Match if accessories and unrelated models appear.
- Open the Amazon offer and check the current seller, delivered price, condition, and included parts.
Are clearance, open-box, and price-drop deals the same?
No. A clearance promotion, a used offer, and a reduction in a product's price over time describe different things. Amazon Resale offers pre-owned and open-box inventory, but a used-versus-new saving is not proof of a recent sale or an official clearance event.
Likewise, a search showing 70% or 90% savings does not establish a typical discount. A temporarily expensive or scarce new offer can make the comparison unusually large. Check whether an equivalent new product is realistically available for less elsewhere.
Calculate the saving after the compromises
Add delivery and replacement accessories to the used price before making your decision. A missing stand, charger, or battery can absorb the headline saving. For a marginal discount, buying new may be simpler.
ThriftyRoo is not a price-history tracker and does not guarantee the lowest price across all retailers. It helps surface offer comparisons from the listings it finds. Use that to make a shortlist, not to skip your final checks.
